Isaiah Thomas has always been inspired by the late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. Thomas wears Kobe's signature shoes and his attitude of not giving up certainly embodies that of Kobe's.

In Jamal Crawford's The Crawsover  Pro-Am league over the weekend, Thomas dropped an 81-point game as he looked unstoppable with shots falling after shots. He was on fire just like the Lakers legend's 81-point masterpiece against the Toronto Raptors in January 2006.

Kobe's scoring outing is the second-highest individual total of all time behind only Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point explosion.

Two days before the game, Thomas expressed his emotions as he tweeted:

It was very coincidental that he dropped 81 points after that tweet. Highlights of Thomas' game have surfaced on social media and the fans went crazy.

The 60th overall pick of the Sacramento Kings in the 2011 NBA Draft, Isaiah Thomas made his name and blossomed into a cult hero for the Boston Celtics. He became a two-time All-Star and even became a finalist for the MVP trophy. In three seasons with the Celtics, Thomas averaged 24.7 points and 6.0 assists per game.

Thomas was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017 for Kyrie Irving. IT then donned the famous Purple and Gold jersey after things didn't work out between him and the Cavaliers. He was traded for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. Thomas averaged 15.6 points and 5.0 assists in 17 games for the Lakers.

Since then, he's bounced around in the league due to injuries. His last stint was suiting up for three games in his 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans last season.

Despite everything, the 5'9″ point guard's confidence and faith in himself have not waned, as he constantly shows it on social media. After his 81-point explosion, he immediately tweeted:

Thomas is clearly auditioning for NBA teams to sign him as he showed he can still produce at a high level.

Do the Lakers offer him their remaining roster spot? It will be interesting to see who ends up signing the 32-year old guard.
