To be on the cover of a basketball video game is one of the monumental achievements that a player can have. That's why it's no surprise for Isaiah Thomas of the Los Angeles Lakers to boldly claim that he'll be on the cover of NBA 2k20.

As posted on his Twitter account, Thomas said:

Maybe this is an effort to motivate himself. Thomas, considered one of the premier point guards in the league, is due for a max contract in the offseason, something that is up for lengthy debate and serious convincing powers from his camp.

He is currently a free agent now but the Lakers have expressed interest in signing the 29-year-old. In an appearance on ESPN LA Mornings with Keyshawn, Jorge, and LZ, Adrian Wojnarowski said:

“The Lakers, plan, I mean everyone has known it. It hasn’t changed. They want to get both of them. They hope they can get one of them, and if they can’t get either, they’re probably doing one-year deals with Isaiah Thomas or Brook Lopez.”

But before everything else, Thomas needs to focus on rehabbing his hip. He admitted that he's now pain-free and is excited about moving forward with the next steps. In an interview in “Chris and Caron” on FOX Sports Radio, Thomas shared:

“The hip is doing great. I’m finally pain-free now. I think the biggest problem I had with that labrum, which everybody knows, I got that fixed. I decided to go ahead and get it fixed, really rehabbed hard, and I’m two months out. I’ve got three or four more weeks until I’m cleared to do everything. I’m excited about being able to be healthy again. I haven’t been healthy in a while.”
