LeBron James continues to cement his legacy, as he's now passed Isiah Thomas on the all-time assists list. The former Detroit Pistons guard is more than thrilled for James that he's progressing so quickly and congratulated the Los Angeles Lakers star for his achievement.

The Hall of Fame point guard took to Twitter and congratulated James for taking over his spot in the all-time assists list.

Thomas, who also spent time as the GM for the New York Knicks, was happy that the Lakers star managed to surpass his rank. He even got a bit cheeky, telling him (jokingly) to celebrate with the champagne the NBA Players' Association owns.

It's understandable why Thomas was happy with James' achievement, though. It's rare to see 35-year-old forwards produce as if he was still in his 20s. LeBron has continued to defy expectations when everyone predicted him to hit a wall and decline in production this year.

The Lakers star's season averages are incredible: He's averaging 25.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 10.7 assists a game. These numbers could easily be mistaken for a player who is still in his prime. Moreover, it's likely that his focus on the passing game accelerated his progression over Thomas.

His performance during the Lakers' win over the Cleveland Cavaliers is what put him over Thomas. He finished with an impressive 31 points, two rebounds, and eight assists on 75% field goal percentage.

He's unlikely to pass Oklahoma City Thunder teammate and good friend Chris Paul on the list, but he's more than willing to try. With the way he's playing, it wouldn't be surprising if he did come close to Paul's spot.
