Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James' ankle was hurt in Saturday's game against the visiting Atlanta Hawks. The injury was met with an outpouring of well wishes from his fellow basketball players such as Ja Morant, CJ McCollum, and others.

Hopefully, the injury to LeBron James is not a serious one, as the Lakers are already shorthanded with Anthony Davis missing significant time due to health issues.

Much like previous years, LeBron James is in the running to win the MVP award. In the 40 games, he has played this season, he has been averaging 25.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and eight assists per contest. Because of Davis' injury, he has had to play extended minutes. In no small part to his efforts, Los Angeles is at the second spot in a crowded Western Conference as of this writing.

The Lakers' immediate schedule of games is a mixed bag with near-bottom teams like the Orlando Magic and contenders, such as the Milwaukee Bucks. The team would be wise to give LeBron James some rest even if the injury turns out to be a minor one.

LeBron James knows that home-court advantage is one of the reasons teams chase for top spots in the playoffs, but since arenas allow little to no fans to attend games in-person, the need for a high seed is reduced.

While GOAT debates could go on forever, one cannot refute the longevity of LeBron James' career.

At a time when his colleagues from the legendary 2003 draft have retired or have settled for reduced roles, LeBron James is still playing at an elite level in his 17th NBA season. Everyone around the NBA is waiting for an upcoming MRI to see if Bron is able to come back in relatively short order, or if this injury is going to require a more noticeably cautious approach from the Lakers as they manage their injury-filled season.
