Los Angeles Lakers legend James Worthy was utterly complimentary of prized rookie Lonzo Ball, going as far as to tout him the next coming to Magic Johnson, notably his former teammate as part of the 80s Showtime Lakers.

“I really like him as a player,” Worthy told TMZ Sports. “He's unselfish, he's a team player. He enhances everybody on the court. We haven't had someone with that type of talent really since Magic (Johnson).”

That's some high praise coming from a Hall of Famer, especially one that played alongside the dime wizard during his entire 11-year career.

Ball has showed every bit of the potential to be a special floor general in the league, and while he's been erratic at times and lacked the presence of mind of a quicker, more physical game that the NBA boasts — those have proved to be one a team can live with as he starts his career.

Worthy even praised his father, LaVar, who he thinks has turned out to be a “marketing genius” for the way he's drawn attention to his son, making a somewhat meek personality the talk of the town, nearly effortlessly.

Ball's innate pass-first abilities were in full display during the Summer League, and if it's any indication by Big Game James' words, the Chino Hills prospect has a bright future ahead of him with the purple-and-gold.
