The Los Angeles Lakers are gearing up for what could very well be a championship run in Orlando. The storied franchise will head to the NBA bubble in Florida next week with high hopes of coming back to Los Angeles with the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

If the Lakers hope to win a 17th NBA title, LeBron James will have to be locked in and ready to go. That's never been a problem in the past for the three-time NBA champion, and it doesn't appear to be one now as teammate Jared Dudley detailed James' goofy but balanced mindset on a Zoom call on Friday.

“For one, LeBron is a goofball,” Dudley said of his superstar teammate. “Let's be honest. We all have different personalities. LeBron is someone who keeps it lighthearted. He's the one entertaining being funny, and every now and again he'll say something serious…You know that text when it's not a funny one.

“LeBron, he's the leader. He's the alpha. But he's 50-50. He jokes just as much as he's serious. He keeps it really even balanced, so for him, he's ready for this moment. You can tell. You can see it in his beard that he's ready.”

The Lakers are currently considered to be one of the legitimate title contenders headed to Orlando with LeBron and Anthony Davis ready to compete with the elite teams in the Western Conference.

So far, only one player on the Lakers roster has backed out of rejoining the team for the NBA's resumption of play. Avery Bradley will not be going with the team and has since had his roster spot replaced by fellow veteran guard, J.R. Smith.

James and company will travel to the bubble on July 9 and will play their first game on July 30 against the division rival L.A. Clippers.
