The Los Angeles Lakers will bring in a well-studded one-two punch at the center spot, one JaVale McGee expects will give opponents some real trouble in the upcoming 2019-20 season. McGee will likely have to compete to keep his starting spot against Dwight Howard, but he has been pretty confident that he might keep his starting spot after signing a two-year, $8.2 million deal with the team.

Regardless of who starts, McGee feels that having two centers of this caliber will give the Lakers an interesting dynamic, as they're both athletic, mobile, and good rim defenders who can trot out some good minutes next to Anthony Davis:

“I feel like he's gonna fit in great,” McGee told Spectrum SportsNet. “I feel like we have similar games and the fact that we can have a one-two punch right after each other, coming in after one another. I don't think that's going to be good for other teams at all. Two bigs that can defend the rim, run the floor, and dunk it. So I'm excited.”

The Lakers rebounded considerably well from the loss of DeMarcus Cousins, grabbing the best possible talent at the center position in Howard and keeping a proven veteran in McGee who can replicate the same production he had last season.

Former coach Luke Walton went away from McGee as the season went on, but this could easily result in another career year for McGee if Frank Vogel lets him loose, especially with another quality center like Howard ready to take the floor.
