Prior to their game against the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday night at Oracle Arena, the Golden State Warriors presented center JaVale McGee his championship ring.

McGee was instrumental in helping the Warriors win back-to-back titles. His role may have been overshadowed by the greatness of former teammates Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, but his ability to protect the rim was something integral for the Dubs defense.

McGee decided to leave the Warriors last summer, signing a one-year deal with the Lakers. So far, he's been more productive and popular in Los Angeles, providing defense and energy for a team that is trying to compete for a playoff spot.

The Lakers did not sign McGee for scoring purposes, as they have arguably the best all-around scorer in the game in LeBron James. He was signed for his veteran leadership and defense, two things that he's been able to share with Lakers young bigs Ivica Zubac and Moritz Wagner.

The Lakers already played at the Oracle last Christmas, but McGee didn't travel with the team because of illness.

From being a laughing stock of the league, McGee has bounced back and is now a two-time NBA champion. That is something that he can truly be proud of.

He's trying to win his third title, and he might have to face his old team down the road.
