JaVale McGee is thankful to LeBron James for lobbying the Los Angeles Lakers to sign him in free agency.

Javale Mcgee signed with the Lakers in the summer for the veteran's minimum worth $2.4 million. The deal is now proving to be a bargain, with the 30-year-old center having a breakout season and averaging a career-high 13.3 points and 2.6 blocks per game.

The former Golden State Warriors big man is also grabbing 6.4 rebounds on a nightly basis and shooting 63.9 percent from the field.

LeBron James notably asked the Lakers to sign McGee, citing that he loves the center's “high IQ” which he saw in the past two NBA Finals.

Now, McGee speaks out about LeBron's latest remarks and shows his appreciation to the four-time NBA MVP.

“He could have said get anybody,” McGee told Tim Reynolds of Associated Press. “It’s just a reassuring feeling, a confidence-builder I guess, knowing that you’re going into a situation wanted as an option, like you’re really wanted. That’s pretty dope.”

McGee, who spent years in the lowlights of Shaqtin' A Fool, is certainly on the rise, and it's all thanks to his match-made-in-heaven partnership with James and the Purple and Gold.

The Lakers are currently seventh in the Western Conference and are just a game back from the top seed. McGee has been a huge part of that success, and he could be the difference-maker the team needs as they aim to contend for a playoff spot and, hopefully, for the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
