The Los Angeles Lakers take on the L.A. Clippers on Friday, and starting center JaVale McGee is still out as he recovers from an illness. However, starting point guard Lonzo Ball will play.

Lonzo Ball was dealing with cramps on Thursday after the Lakers lost to the Sacramento Kings.

In 29 games this season, JaVale McGee is averaging 11.8 points and 6.7 rebounds. The 30-year-old high-flyer is shooting 62.6 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line. The Lakers have been starting Ivica Zubac in McGee's place.

Lonzo Ball is going to have to man the point guard position for a while. Rajon Rondo is out after undergoing surgery on his right hand and LeBron James is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Ball is averaging 9.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game this year in 35 contests. The former No. 2 overall pick is shooting 40.5 percent overall, 32.1 percent from the 3-point line, and 51.7 percent from the foul line.

The Lakers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Kings on Thursday, so the team is going to be motivated to get back in the win column versus their city rival, the Clippers. The Clippers are 20-14 so far, which is good for fourth place in the West.
