Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is starting to expand his game beyond the arc — way beyond the arc! The three-time NBA champion is getting more and more confident taking deep three-pointers, some of which near halfcourt.

During the Lakers win over the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this week, LeBron calmly crossed halfcourt and pulled up for perhaps the deepest three-pointer of his career. No one saw it coming, and that was part of his plan as he drained the shot from 40 feet or so.

After the Lakers secured their 47th win of the season, LeBron's near-halfcourt three was a hot topic of discussion. The conversation went from whether it was a good shot to amazement from teammates like JaVale McGee, who had a hilarious take on James' shot after the game.

“We just didn't understand how he shot it from that far, and it barely hit the net,” McGee said of LeBron's near-halfcourt three. “It just went straight in, so we were confused.”

“You definitely walk up to him and say, ‘Damn!' and then you move on to the next play. Because it was a ‘damn' play like he shot that from far as hell, but hey, you got to keep moving, keep grinding and worry about the next play.”

Whether it is a good shot or not is debatable. Stephen Curry, Trae Young, and Damian Lillard hit these deep three-pointers all the time, and although it's impressive, few are critical of the shot due to the fact these players can hit it consistently.

LeBron, however, is not known for his three-point shooting and even struggles from the free-throw line, so taking a risky shot like this is bound to come with some criticism, but until he starts missing, the Lakers are going to see him continue to pull from deep.
