Veteran center JaVale McGee isn't leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, McGee is heading back to Tinseltown after agreeing to a two-year, $8.2 million deal with the Lakers.

McGree previously met with the Houston Rockets and the Detroit Pistons as he explored free agency. However, returning to Los Angeles seems to be the most logical choice given the opportunity to compete for championships.

The Lakers recently acquired Anthony Davis to pair up with LeBron James, transforming the franchise into legitimate title contenders.

McGee is expected to start for the Lakers at the center spot if Davis takes the power forward position. He could also serve as primary backup to AD, especially if the team looks to play faster.

The 31-year-old McGee played in 75 games for the Lakers last season and started in 62. He had unarguably the best season of his career in the 2018-19 campaign, averaging a career-high 12.0 points on top of 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.

An 11-year NBA veteran, McGee also shot 62.4 percent from the field and 63.2 percent from the free-throw line in his first year in Los Angeles.

The Lakers are not yet done in making moves in free agency. After missing out on Kawhi Leonard, they are now set to turn their attention to the remaining free agents in the market.
