Most NBA journeymen don't have the upper hand when it comes to LeBron James. But Jeff Ayres feels like he does have one moment he can hold over James' head.

Ayres is playing in the NBA Summer League for the Lakers and his performance has LeBron James excited. When Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times asked Ayres if he has any history with James, Ayres responded, “Just beating him in the Finals.”

With a smirk on his face, Ayres, who has long been a fringe NBA player, made it clear that this was a tongue-in-cheek response to beating James' Miami Heat team in the 2014 NBA Finals as a member of the San Antonio Spurs.

Ayres played sparingly in San Antonio, but the man still has a ring that no one can take that away from him, and it came at the expense of James.

This might look like a potshot from Ayres to James, but there's no malice intended by Ayres. He's just looking to remind everyone that he's been around the league for a while and he's had some success.

The 31-year-old power forward has spent the better part of the last two years playing overseas, but he's looking to restart his NBA career in Los Angeles. The former NBA champion has bounced around the world during his career, but perhaps he can bring some experience to a relatively young and inexperienced Lakers roster.
