ESPN NBA TV analyst Jeff Van Gundy was in prime form on Saturday, saying the Los Angeles Lakers should consider trading superstar small forward LeBron James this summer if they can get a grand haul for the four-time MVP.

LeBron's first year with the Lakers has been a disaster. When he suffered a groin injury against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas, Los Angeles has been in a downward spiral ever since.

Jeff Van Gundy says LA needs a roster turnover this summer and thinks LeBron James should be moved if it can free up space for guys like Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard, who both become unrestricted free agents this offseason.

James signed a four-year deal with the Lakers. It is widely assumed LA is going to try and trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis again this summer.

If the Lakers can get Davis and James together in Los Angeles, that would be a good start to the roster turnover which Van Gundy is talking about.

What if LA doesn't get Davis, though? Then what?

There have been rumors that Durant and Leonard don't want to play with LeBron on the Lakers. It's very doubtful Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka will even think about moving James, but it's definitely something to think about if they can't get another superstar.
