Los Angeles Clippers consultant and NBA Hall of Famer Jerry West guarantees the Lakers will have a good year in 2019-20.

The Lakers missed the playoffs this season, the first year of the LeBron James era. The Purple and Gold were in the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings after defeating the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, but that's the same game James suffered a serious left groin injury.

LeBron missed 17 consecutive games. The Lakers went just 6-11 without The King and were never able to rebound from that disastrous stretch.

West, however, believes the Lake Show will have a bounce back season.

“I hope they do well,” West said on The Athletic's podcast, via Christian Rivas of Silver Screen and Roll. “I really hope they do well, but they just have to get this noise to stop that’s all around them and play basketball. I would guarantee you: they’re going to have a good year this year, they have enough good players to have a really good year, and they’re going to have a good year.”

The Lakers have to sign a star player in free agency this summer. Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler and Kemba Walker are the notable free agents this offseason.

Give LeBron one of those guys, and the Lakers should make the postseason in 2019-20.
