Even before he entered the NBA with the Los Angeles Lakers, Lonzo Ball has already received a lot of criticism, and many doubted if he is as good as advertised. It also did not help that his father was often in the middle of controversies, as it added to the shots fired towards him.

With the Lakers, he has started to establish himself as a solid all-around player and is beginning to form strong bonds with his teammates. Proof of this is when Jordan Clarkson recently defended him on Twitter, asking his haters what they are going to do if the former UCLA star will record a triple-double in the Mtn Dew Kickstart Rising Stars game during NBA All-Star Weekend. He then noted that they will not be able to do anything about it and that Ball should be awarded MVP of the game should he reach the feat on the night.

Despite all that’s been said about him, Ball remains professional and lets his game speak for itself. He has proven that he can be effective on both ends of the floor, and is a pass-first player, who can set up his teammates for easy baskets. Clarkson has been the recipient of some of his dimes when they share the court together, which makes him have a deeper understanding of his unique skill set.

It remains to be seen how Ball will perform during the exhibition game, but if plays close to how he usually does for the Lakers, he could be in line for the award, and also show everyone watching that he is indeed the real deal who can help his team regain their lost glory.
