After taking care of business on their respective conferences, the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers are set to face in the 2020 NBA Finals.

Although not a lot of people expected them to be the last two teams standing this season, Lakers swingman JR Smith actually saw the match coming months back ā€” even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the US.

Smith had a crazy prediction back in February that it was going to be the Heat and the Lakers battling out for the Larry O'Brien this 2020.

A lot of crazy things have happened this year, but JR Smith going all Nostradamus on us is definitely peak 2020.

What's more interesting is that Smith was actually a free agent when he made the prophecy. The Lakers signed the 35-year-old vet a few months later in June.

Does JR Smith know something we don't?

Smith was a late addition to the Lakers' lineup as the franchise tried to fill in the void left by Avery Bradley, who opted to sit out the resumption of the 2019-20 season and playoffs. Smith played in six of the team's eight seeding games and provided energy and some sharp shooting off the bench.

Although Smith's numbers are down in this year's playoffs, he has been a vocal member of the Lakers bench and has been ready every time he's called up by head coach Frank Vogel. He has been sent in short spurts and has suited up for seven of the Purple and Gold's 15 playoff games so far.

We'll have to wait and see if Smith can predict his way to his second NBA championship ring.
