Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the best basketball players in the history of the NBA. His voice is still powerful when he speaks about basketball or politics. Abdul-Jabbar and Trump have exchanged barbs dating all the way back to 2015 and even though Trump is president, Abdul-Jabbar has not stopped speaking out.

“I think the president is more of a problem than a solution because he keeps pointing to why we should fear each other,” Abdul-Jabbar said to Andrew Duffy of the Ottawa Citizen, “and we need people who are going to point to how we can co-operate and solve the problems that need to be solved.”

Abdul-Jabbar isn't the first NBA star to speak out against Trump and he certainly won't be the last. The champion Golden State Warriors famously chose to skip their White House visits in 2017 and 2018. LeBron James and Kevin Durant have been vocal in their criticism of the president as well. Head coaches Steve Kerr and Gregg Popovich have also been known to toss their hat in the political ring from time to time.

Trump has a history of attacking African-American athletes in the NFL and NBA. He scapegoats them as un-American because he feels the need to constantly attack anyone who criticizes him. It's no surprise that Trump targets African-American athletes specifically and there is ample evidence of Trump pointing to why we should fear our fellow Americans.

Abdul-Jabbar has never been afraid to speak his mind.
