Ahead of his Hall of Fame enshrinement, NBA legend Kevin Garnett spoke about his relationship with Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant and the intense mini-rivalry they had.

After all, it is worth noting that on his way to his first and lone championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, Garnett had to take down Bryant and his Lakers squad.

As KG reflected on his battles with the late Lakers great, he can't help but become emotional. He referred to Kobe as his “little brother” and shared how they both try to prove they were the best players on the court.

After Kevin Garnett and his Celtics took down the Lakers in the 2008 NBA Finals, Kobe Bryant responded in a big way and led the Purple and Gold to back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010. That 2010 win was also extra special since it served as a rematch between KG and Kobe and Boston and LA–with the City of Angels coming out victorious at 4-3.

It is truly unfortunate that Kobe will not be able to join Garnett and the rest of the Class of 2020 in the Hall of Fame enshrinement after his tragic passing last year. To recall, Bryant and her daughter Gianna were among the nine people who perished in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.

As Garnett noted earlier, the Hall of Fame enshrinement will be a “super emotional” one with Kobe gone. However, there is no doubt they will make sure  to honor the late Lakers great in every way possible.
