Sacramento Kings starting point guard De’Aaron Fox says he wouldn't trade the Los Angeles Lakers' young core to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis this summer.

The Lakers are expected to pursue a Davis trade again this offseason after failing to acquire AD at the 2019 February trade deadline. The Pelicans will surely ask Los Angeles for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Fox says the Lakers should keep their young core together, while the Pelicans should have accepted LA's offer at the trade deadline.

“I know you want to do all the trading and all that, but I don’t know if I would trade the guys that they have. I wouldn’t personally,” Fox said on FS1's Undisputed, via Lakers Nation. “Now if I was New Orleans, I would have [done] it a long time ago. I was born in New Orleans. I didn’t grow up a Hornets fan because they were the Hornets when I was there. I would have pulled the trigger so quick.”

Is De'Aaron Fox saying this because he doesn't want Anthony Davis in the same division as him? It's possible.

Either way, the Lakers clearly have no problem trading away their young guys for Davis, who is one of the best players in the NBA when healthy. Only time will tell if Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka can get the deal done.
