Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is a competitor – on and off the field. Everyone knows that. Metaphorically speaking, Kobe will find a way to make a difficult fadeaway jumper with six hands on his face in life. He embraces challenges and gets a kick out of beating them. That’s just Kobe.

But one thing you probably didn’t know about Kobe Bryant is that the Black Mamba once dealt with the challenge of writing an ad that featured former teammate and ex-Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard almost a decade ago. In an interview with ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Bryant revealed that he penned the script Howard memorized for a Vitaminwater ad in 2009.

In 2009, when Bryant was in the NBA Finals, Zambezi wrote an ad for Dwight Howard and Vitaminwater that ran during the games.

“I wrote that s—,” Bryant said.

Well, who knew that Kobe had some Don Draper inside him? And just like the Mad Men series' lead character, the five-time NBA champion also was good in keeping a secret, as he intentionally kept his partnership with Zambezi, the ad agency that produced the Howard commercial, under wraps.

“The sports industry is very competitive,” Bryant said. “If everyone knew I was part of an agency, I'm not sure we would have got the business that we won.”
