Basketball fans everywhere had a field day on social media after a confusing take on Kobe Bryant's influence on the NBA game with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Apparently, Kobe Bryant's influence is low-top sneakers, and that's all, while he goes on to ask what LeBron James' influence has been on the game.  It's safe to say that tweet didn't go over well with NBA enthusiasts, especially Lakers fans.

Kobe Bryant is one of the best players of all time and revolutionized the way the game was played on both ends of the floor. The Black Mamba won five NBA titles, made 18 All-Star appearances, and was named to the All-Defensive team 12 times.

Even more impressive, Kobe Bryant is the fourth leading scorer in NBA history and on the Mount Rushmore of Lakers legends.

However, Kobe Bryant's supposed influence on the game was “low-top sneakers.”

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but that's a huge stretch for one of the best players the game has ever seen. Perhaps Kobe Bryant's influence was never giving up, fighting through injury, or willing his team to victory despite extenuating circumstances.

He then went to ask what LeBron's influence has been on the game, and we can only guess what his takes on The King's mark in the league would be, compared to Kobe Bryant. James is currently playing at an all-time high level and is leading the Lakers to perhaps another top finish in the Western Conference and is one of the early candidates for the NBA MVP award.

Either way, it didn't go over well in the social media world, and people questioned it again and again.

The one-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant's death was this past Tuesday, Jan. 26. So much has happened in the world since that tragic accident shook a world full of basketball fans who gained so much enjoyment from the Mamba's brilliant career. Though the intervening events — a pandemic and economic shocks — have disrupted our lives, the memory of Kobe is as strong as ever… which makes this ridiculous take on sneakers even harder to process.
