It’s only a matter of time before former Oklahoma Sooners guard Trae Young invades the shore of the NBA with the 2018 NBA Draft only less than two months away from happening. For now, though, Young is content getting gifts like this one from no other than Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant himself.

Kobe Bryant appears to be particularly warm to Sooners players, especially the good ones. Back in 2016, he heaped praises on then Sooners star Buddy Hield following the latter’s magnificent performance in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament. Unlike Young, however, Hield did not get a signed jersey from the Black Mamba.

Trae Young is among the most anticipated players in this coming draft. The spitfire guard is coming off a spectacular freshman season in Norman, as he led the nation in both points in assists, averaging 27.4 points and 8.8 dimes per game. He was also an incredible shooter from distance, as he knocked down 3.7 3-pointers per game on 36.0 percent accuracy.

Despite having a great 2017-18 season, Young failed to lead the Sooners to a win in the Big Dance. Oklahoma crashed out of the tournament right in the very first round, where the Sooners absorbed an 83-78 loss from the Rhode Island Rams.

Oklahoma’s late-season malaise might have hurt Young’s draft stock, but he’s still expected to be one of the first 10 players selected.
