Stephen Curry has been a man on a mission in this NBA Finals as he hopes to lead the Golden State Warriors to their fourth title in eight years. The Boston Celtics have had their hands full with the greatest shooter of all time, and they will need to try and prevent another offensive explosion from Curry in Game 4 on Friday. As it turns out, Boston could actually turn to Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant for some sage advice on how to shut down the Warriors superstar.

On a recent episode of the Knuckleheads podcast, former Lakers guard Lou Williams recalled an amazing story about how he once witnessed Kobe lock down Steph. This was during the 2015-16 season, which incidentally, was Bryant's final year in the NBA. According to Williams, Kobe successfully exposed the secret to stopping the Dubs guard:

“We was playing Golden State,” Williams said (h/t Peter Dewey of Lakers Daily). “And this was when Steph was starting to catch fire. He was starting to turn into ‘The Chef.’ You know what I’m saying? And he came in and he said, ‘I f—— found it.’ He just kept saying, ‘I f—– found it.’ … He like, ‘He don’t like people standing on the side of him. He can shoot with you in front of him. He can shoot with you behind him. But on his side, he don’t like that. I’mma guard him the second half.’ Shut him down again. So, after that, I was a believer. … After that, I’m like, ‘Everything that I’ve heard about Kobe Bryant is all true.’”

You have to note that this was in Curry's prime. That season, the Warriors stud was well on his way to his second consecutive MVP. Nevertheless, Kobe found a way to shut him down, and the Lakers legend did just that.

The Celtics may want to take a page out of Kobe's book here as they try and prevent another hot shooting night from Curry in Game 4 — and beyond.
