Drew Hammell of Finish Line posted a blog detailing an experience with Nike promoting the official debut of the Epic React which they referred to in the invitation as “the latest Nike footwear innovation.”

Among those to be introduced one by one in the event were some of the best athletes on the planet who were endorsers of the Epic React.

“Sprinter and four-time Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross ran in,” Hammell said. “Then gymnast and two-time Olympic medalist Lauri Hernandez. Then hurdling gold medalists Aries Merritt and Dalilah Muhammad. And finally two-time WNBA All-Star Stafanie Dolson. We were surrounded by greatness.”

According to Hammell, “Nike made the point pretty clear – the Epic React was the lightest, bounciest, softest, fastest running shoe ever created.”

As for Bryant, he has been with Nike since 2003 when they signed him to a four-year, $40 million deal after having a shoe deal with Adidas earlier in his career. Since that time, Bryant has stayed on with Nike, having his own signature shoe, something that not all Nike endorsers enjoy.

More recently, in an interview with Sole Collector last year, Bryant confirmed that he’ll be receiving the “Jordan treatment” after he retired.

Asked if “there’s going to be a Nike Kobe 12, 13 and so forth,” Bryant said, “Absolutely. We’ll continue to evolve. We’re going to continue to push and the line will keep growing.”
