Recovering from the nostalgia of Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, who celebrated his 40th birthday, the league is hit once more by another blast from the past with the retirement announcement of San Antonio Spurs legend Manu Ginobili.

The league has been sending their love, support, and gratitude all over social media on the decision of the veteran San Antonio Spurs guard to finally hang it up.

In the midst of the emotions of the situation, if there is anybody right now who understands the feeling and the value of a post-NBA career, it would be Laker legend Kobe Bryant.

The fellow NBA retiree took a moment to send a warm message to the Argentinian Spurs star.

Kobe Bryant tweeted

.@manuginobili You are true champion my friend and one of the best I have ever matched up with. Enjoy life after the game hermano. You deserve that and more.

The genuine sentiments from the Black Mamba toward Ginobili are surprisingly intertwined by the journey they both had in their careers.

From Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili to Shaq and Kobe, the Spurs and the Lakers were playoff powerhouses and staples in the early 2000s

Ever since Manu’s debut in 2002, they have faced-off more than a handful of times during the playoffs aside from the regular season. An admiration born out of fire, those matchups brought out the best in them, which gave us some of the best playoff moments in history.

With Manu’s career decision, a reminder of the Spurs golden age, only time will tell how it will change the complexion of the franchise as the season nears.
