Bryant, 41, retired from the NBA after a decorated 20-year career all with the Lakers. Also an Academy Award–winning producer of a short film, Bryant authored autobiography “The Mamba Mentality: How I Play” in the fall of 2018.

Bryant's self-dubbed nickname “Mamba” has been widely accepted and used by athletes to describe a hyper-concentrated type of athlete with an extreme competitive nature. Bryant won five NBA championships with the Lakers in his career, first earning a “three-peat” alongside center Shaquille O'Neal from 2000-02 and later leading an L.A. franchise to back-to-back titles in 2009-10.

The one-time NBA MVP and 18-time All-Star has ventured into the business world following his retirement after the 2015-16 season, growing his personal brand in spite of a professional career attachment to basketball.
