It’s been a while since Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant last played in an NBA game. While the itch to play again could still be there for the five-time NBA champion, the idea of coaching does not seem to be something Bryant is even remotely interested in.

Known for his boundless competitive spirit matched only by his fierce play on the court, Bryant probably would only melt in envy and burn in anger as a coach watching players see action on the court while he’s left on the sidelines calling the shots. Plus, Kobe appears to be enjoying his life after hanging up his sneakers.

So if he’s not playing in some top-level league or gearing up for a possible coaching gig in the pros, what is keeping the Black Mamba busy? Well, for one, there’s his ESPN show Detail.

The show, which has already aired it’s pilot episode last week, lets Bryant talk about the intricacies of the game that led to the legendary mainstream status he is enjoying today. It’s a technical approach to basketball, dissimilar to the way how most other sports talk shows personalities would discuss a game by psychoanalyzing players and coaches instead of dissecting the x’s and the o’s of basketball plays.

During his NBA career that spanned 20 years, Kobe Bryant managed to average 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game across 1,346 regular season contests.

There will never ever be another Kobe. Don’t also expect to see a coach version of Kobe in the future.
