A number of items belonging to late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant have been returned to Bryant's widow, Vanessa.
The memorabilia came from an abandoned storage locker a fan won during a recent auction. However, the items in the locker have since been given to Vanessa, according to TMZ:
The buyer ended up selling the items to “Storage Wars” star Rene Nezhoda for roughly $13,000 … and the original plan was to make a fortune on the open market.
But, we're told Vanessa Bryant learned about the auction and felt the items belonged with the Bryant family — so her reps reached out to Rene before he put them up for sale in hopes of working out a deal.
We spoke with Rene who tells us, “Everything has been worked out. A number of personal items, worn items, and paperwork were sold directly back to the Bryant family.”
Kobe memorabilia has been quite prominent since the deceased Lakers legend tragically died in a helicopter crash in January.
Numerous items belonging to or worn by the “Black Mamba” have gone up for sale, from game-worn jerseys to towels and shoes.
Just over two weeks ago, it was announced the hardwood floor from his final game would be auctioned off. The auction is expected to fetch close to $500,000 for the floor.
Collectors have flocked to accumulate Kobe merchandise for months now. But it is nice to see Vanessa and the Bryant family will take home some of the items as they continue in the grieving process.
