Kobe Bryant has been evaluating talent for most his NBA career, and now that he's retired, he's put those skills to work during his recent partnership with ESPN, sprouting “Detail” — a show that shines a much different light in players and team's offensive and defensives schemes.

Bryant recently worked with Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, and according to his personal trainer, Drew Hanlen, Bryant was so impressed with his skills, that his wondered if his beloved Los Angeles Lakers had made the right choice by drafting Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 overall pick last season, rather than Tatum, who went right after him to the Boston Celtics.

“We actually showed Kobe yesterday and he was like, ‘Why didn’t the Lakers draft him?’, which was pretty funny, after seeing that,” Hanlen said as a guest in The Sidelines with Evan Daniels podcast (via Josh Martin of LonzoWire)

Let's remember that the Celtics traded down from their rightful No. 1 overall selection, as president Danny Ainge felt confident he could get his preferred prospect with the No. 3 overall selection.

Tatum impressed, as he “idolized” Bryant growing up, which paved the way for the St. Louis native tactfully studying Bryant’s moves, including his signature jab step.

Tatum finished third in the NBA Rookie of the Year race, but was the one rookie that came the furthest into the postseason, falling a game short of making an NBA Finals appearance.
