Having been a professional basketball player and NBA veteran, Joe Bryant was very happy that his son, Kobe, also made it into the league, and as it turned out, became one of the best players to ever play the game. He recently shared how he felt watching him compete at the highest level, especially representing a storied franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers.

The older Bryant discussed how important it was that he played for the right team, as a player's fit is important for someone to successful. He also added, via Respect Magazine’s Brandon Robinson, that it's even more important than becoming a top pick in the draft.

“As a fan, just watching him play and putting up all those points and playing at such a high level at such a great organization like the Lakers. I think that’s probably one of the important things…These kids come out of school and they worry about being a number one pick, number two pick, I think it’s more important that you get with the right organization and Kobe was able to do that and as you see, playing with one organization is really something special.”

Despite only being selected 13th overall in the 1996 draft, Kobe Bryant proved all the teams that passed up on him wrong. He quickly established himself as a special player, by showcasing his impressive skillset, and his famous Mamba Mentality early on in his career.

Now that he's retired, “Jellybean” can look back and feel even more proud of what his son has accomplished as a professional. He has won almost all awards the NBA has to offer, including the regular season and Finals MVP Awards, was named an All-Star 18 times, and a five-time champion as well. That said, it's not hard to imagine him not wanting to change anything on how his career went, especially spending all his seasons with the Lakers.
