The blockbuster trade-deadline-day swap that brought Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye to the Los Angeles Lakers while shipping Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. to the Cleveland Cavaliers has had plenty of tear on both teams.

Lakers forward Julius Randle reflected in the loss of two of their brothers in this young core after a frenzied day of transactions.

“It was emotional, in the beginning, since we lost two of our brothers,” said Randle, according to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints. “They’re in a great spot and they have a job to do.”

Fellow forward Kyle Kuzma had even more to weight after losing two of his closest friends in the team.

“It was really unfortunate, for me especially,” said Kuzma. “I was really close to Larry & JC (Clarkson). Those two guys I kind of clicked with right away. We all miss them for sure but at the end of the day, it’s a business.”

Both players were an integral part of the Lakers young equation, but were ultimately moved, creating a massive cap space that would allow this team to haul in two superstars this offseason.

Kuzma and Randle would benefit by splitting minutes in between them without Nance as part of the rotation and Frye being merely a specialist, likely used as a center in some sets to bring extra space to the floor.

The new-look Lakers will look for a season-high fifth straight victory on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday after dispatching the Oklahoma City Thunder 106-81 last night at the Staples Center.
