Kyle Kuzma knows the Flint Water Crisis first became an issue in Flint, Michigan back in 2014. The drinking water in the city of Flint was polluted with lead, causing the water to be unsafe for human use.

Even to this day, there are still issues arising with the water in Flint, which has caused unrest among the community. Kyle Kuzma, a Flint native, hopes to do everything in his power to make progress toward the people in his hometown being able to have clean water.

On Sunday, Kyle Kuzma agreed to terms on a three-year, $40 million extension, making him the third player on the Lakers to sign an extension. Besides Kuzma, both LeBron James and Anthony Davis inked new deals with Los Angeles, keeping the majority of their championship roster intact.

Last season, Kyle Kuzma saw a decline in nearly all of his numbers, averaging only 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. However, it should be noted that his role with LeBron and Davis staying healthy for the majority of the season led to him seeing a career-low 25 minutes per game in 2019-2020.

While Kyle Kuzma knows he can't fix the issue entirely by himself, the former first-round selection hopes to use some of his extension money to help fight for clean water in Flint, Michigan.

At a point in time when so many Americans are living in precarity — a reality which is amplified by the arrival of the holiday season within the COVID-19 pandemic — genuine efforts to help Flint and other hard-hit communities make a difference. Kyle Kuzma is trying to do his part.
