On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers were quietly defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder 133-96. Kyle Kuzma has recently stated that the loss against the Thunder was embarrassing, and that the team simply gave up on the floor. This marks the eighth straight loss for the Lakers, but Kuzma is still keeping faith that his team will turn things around.

In actuality, it may not be Kuzma's fault for the Lakers' recent troubles. In fact, Kuzma has been having a terrific year. He is ranked second in rookie scoring with 17.5 points per game, only trailing Donovan Mitchell. Kuzma has been the most surprising rookie in the NBA, performing at a high level even though he was selected with the 27th pick of the 2017 NBA Draft. Still, the Lakers have found themselves in a common situation, and that is losing consecutive games.

The Lakers are currently the worst team in the Western Conference, with a humiliating 11-26 record. Granted, the Lakers are still battling injuries in their starting lineup. Lonzo Ball is still out of the rotation with a shoulder injury, and Brook Lopez just returned to the lineup on Wednesday after battling an ankle injury.

Furthermore, it's understandable that Kuzma is keeping the positives and declaring to Lakers fans that things will change for the better. However, the Lakers don't have a lot of time to figure things out. In their next 10 games, the Lakers will have to face the Thunder, Spurs, Celtics, and the Pacers. Hopefully, Kuzma is right, and the Lakers can get back to their winning ways in the near future.
