Los Angeles Lakers rookie sensation Kyle Kuzma is living the dream. However, much like so many other players in the NBA, life was not always as good for the 23-year-old.

Having had his fair share of hardships, Kuzma is not one to take the things for granted. He keeps his head in the right place, and has made it part of his life's purpose to pay it forward. This was exactly what the 6-foot-9 forward set out to do when he established a youth basketball camp in his native of Flint, Michingan.

Speaking to Eric Woodyard of Deseret News Sports, Kuzma shed some light on why setting up his very own camp meant so much to him.

“It doesn’t take much to give back,” Kuzma said. “I feel like I wanted to be the person to never forget where I came from, so right away I thought, ‘why not? It’s the summertime, I’ve got nothing else better to do so why not give back to the kids?”

There was some exaggeration in Kuzma's statement when he said that he had nothing else better to do this summer. Despite a breakout rookie year, the former University of Utah standout did not sit on his laurels during the break. Kuzma used the offseason to continue working on his game, knowing full well that his sophomore season will pose a whole new set of challenges for him to overcome.

Kuzma appears to possess the right mindset to succeed in the league. Hopefully, he is able to keep on the same path as he actually has the potential to become one of the greats.
