Los Angeles Lakers stud Kyle Kuzma has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the basketball shoe industry. A recent report suggested Kuzma was closing in on a deal with Puma, but the latest from ESPN's Nick DePaula says he's still in negotiations with numerous companies:

As mentioned in the tweet, some Chinese brands are also in the mix, and we know how deep their pockets are, so this is definitely going to be a sweet summer for Kuz. The 6-foot-9 forward definitely deserves what's coming for him, though, with Kuzma looking to take his game to the next level after a stellar second season.

In his sophomore campaign last season, the former 27th overall pick averaged 18.7 points (on 45.6 percent shooting), 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 33.1 minutes, while also connecting on 1.8 3-pointers per contest on a 30.3 percent clip.

More of the same is expected from the highly promising rising star this coming season, with some seeing Kuzma as a potential third star in Los Angeles if he can improve that 3-point shooting. The spotlight will be brighter than usual for the Lakers this term after trading for Anthony Davis. This translates to a ton of exposure for Kuzma himself, which makes the intense bidding war on his potential shoe deal make so much sense.
