Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma suffers apparent ankle injury vs. Clippers

Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma went down against the L.A. Clippers with what seems to be an ankle injury.

At the halfway mark of the fourth quarter, Kuzma made a hard cut and took a pass from LeBron James. The former went strong to the hoop despite being flanked by two defenders. Unfortunately, it appeared that Kuzma rolled his right ankle as soon as he took off.

Kuzma was brought to the locker room afterward and was no longer able to return.

Prior to his early exit, Kuzma contributed 13 points, six rebounds, and one assist. He shot the ball poorly, going 5-of-15 from the floor to go along with three turnovers.

The Lakers went on to lose the ballgame, 113-105. LeBron James notched 27 points, eight rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block. Rajon Rondo had a sterling performance with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists, and one steal, going vintage on the opponent.

Los Angeles entered the game sans Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram, a late scratch due to a shoulder injury, and Kuzma’s situation only compounds the Lakers’ woes as their playoff hopes slowly fade away.

The purple and gold’s record now stands at 30-33, five games behind the eight-placed Clippers. The Lakers have lost seven of their last 10 games which included defeats at the hands of teams that are no longer in the running for a postseason slot.
