Kyrie Irving is one of the biggest Kobe Bryant fans in the NBA, growing up idolizing the fallen Los Angeles Lakers legend as a kid. He even lived his dream of playing against the Black Mamba once he stepped into the NBA. As such, the Brooklyn Nets star is campaigning for the league to immortalize the late, great Kobe by making him the brand's new logo.

Irving took to Instagram to share a proposed new NBA logo that features the Black Mamba.

That's not a bad look for the NBA, and it could actually serve as a timely update for the league's age-old logo. After all, Kobe Bryant is one of the most iconic players the sport has ever seen, so it wouldn't be too bad of an idea if the former Lakers star becomes the new face (or at least the logo) of the league.

Right now, this honor is held by Hall of Famer Jerry West–who is also a Lakers great. Aptly dubbed as “The Logo,” West is himself one of the most decorated players in the history of the league. For what it's worth, though, the current NBA logo was designed back in 1969, and at this point, it's been over five decades. Perhaps it is indeed time for an update?

Kyrie Irving also makes it a point to remind everyone about how the African-American community has been pivotal in the development of the NBA. The league has now attained a global reach that has never before seen in the past, and for Kyrie, it is only right that the NBA recognizes the contributions of Black players towards this remarkable achievement.
