The Los Angeles Lakers are signing Juan Toscano-Anderson to a one-year, veteran's minimum contract, per Yahoo Sports and The Athletic. The 29-year-old wing is fresh off winning the 2022 NBA championship as a member of the Golden State Warriors.

Toscano-Anderson spent the past three seasons in Golden State. He appeared in 73 games during the 2021-22 regular season, putting up 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. The Oakland native and Marquette alum went undrafted and worked his way into the NBA after spending three years playing in Mexico.

The Lakers entered free agency with the intention to get younger, more athletic, and more defensive-minded. Rob Pelinka and Darvin Ham also stated a desire to add high-energy players who can fill in the gaps around stars and excel at the subtler elements of the game — cutting, screening, crashing glass, help defense, and the like. Their first four signings — JTA, Damian Jones (age 27), Lonnie Walker IV (24), Troy Brown Jr. (23) — have reflected that agenda.

Toscano-Anderson became a fan favorite in Golden State due to his hard-nosed play and outsized enthusiasm. He was an essential member of the team's locker room and culture.

The 6'6 wing is a career 36.1% three-point shooter on 1.5 attempts per game.

The Lakers roster for 2022-23 now sits at 13: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker, Kendrick Nunn, Stanley Johnson, Wenyen Gabriel, Austin Reaves, Max Christie (presumably), Jones, Walker IV, Brown Jr., Toscano-Anderson.

FWIW: Toscano-Anderson, Brown Jr. and Walker IV are all represented by Klutch Sports.
