The Los Angeles Lakers could use some help to bolster their frontcourt and it appears that Moe Wagner is on his way back from knee injury. Now, Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints is reporting that the Michigan product is heading to the South Bay Lakers on a rehab assignment.

Moe Wagner was the Lakers first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, snagging the German big man with the 25th overall pick. The 6-foot-11 Wagner will compete for minutes in LA's second unit. JaVale McGee has taken hold of the starting center position, but the Lakers are still looking for contributions from big men off the bench.

This way, they won't have to overuse LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma at the five position. They could use another body to turn in productive minutes on the frontcourt.

Wagner's ability to shoot the ball could come in handy for a Lakers team that is still searching for some consistent 3-point shooting. It was a concern coming into the season and thus far, Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball — no, seriously — have been the only consistent threats from distance. Ball's shot looks much improved from last year, but it's unwise to bank on Lonzo shooting above 40 percent from deep this year.

Wagner could bring a different element off the bench with his ability to play pick and pop. He shot just under 40 percent from deep in his final season at Michigan. Lakers fans should get to see Wagner take the floor at Staples Center sometime in the near future.
