Despite waiving 28-year-old shooting guard Troy Daniels on Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly have no imminent plans to sign another player, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The popular theory is that the Lakers waived Daniels to sign free-agent guard Dion Waiters. And while LA will reportedly still meet with Waiters, there are no current plans to sign the former Miami Heat starter.

After being suspended by the Heat multiple times due to “conduct detrimental to the team” and only playing a total of three games for Miami this season, Waiters was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies at the trade deadline.

A part of the deal that sent Justise Winslow to Memphis and Jae Crowder to Miami, Waiters was quickly waived by the Grizzlies.

In the three games he played for the Heat, the 6-foot-3 guard put up 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from deep.

As for the now-waived Daniels, the veteran shooter was on his sixth team in seven seasons and played just 11.1 minutes per game for the Lakers. In those minutes, Daniels averaged 4.2 points and 1.1 rebounds per game while shooting 39.2 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Another popular name that has been thrown around for the Lakers is former Cleveland Cavaliers wing J.R. Smith. Smith has yet to be signed by a team this season after being waived by the Cavs last July.

With both Smith and Waiters being former teammates of Lakers superstar LeBron James, either of the two would add a bit of familiarity to the team's now open roster.
