Before Dwight Howard reached a deal to return to the Los Angeles Lakers, some of the team's players reportedly asked him if he can still guard the likes of Joel Embiid.

As reported earlier, some Lakers players were involved in assessing Howard's fit with the Purple and Gold. Now, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Anthony Davis, JaVale McGee and Rajon Rondo met with him to determine if the three-time Defensive Player of the Year is still capable of going against today's elite centers.

Howard will fill the void left by DeMarcus Cousins, who could potentially miss the entire 2019-20 season after suffering a torn ACL during a summer workout in Las Vegas. Howard isn't expected to start though, with multiple reports citing that he'll play a limited role with the Lakers in the 2019-20 season. However, if the eight-time All-Star proves himself worthy of the team's trust, it wouldn't be a surprise to see his minutes increase.

At this point, Howard has repeatedly said that he just wants to end his career on a good note and redeem himself to Lakers fans. Although most members of the franchise are convinced that Howard is a changed man, they still want to see Dwight prove himself on the court.
