So far in the 2021-22 NBA season, Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard has not had very much to celebrate. He has had a minimal impact on the court and the Lakers have struggled to regain their championship form from just two years ago. On Friday night, however, the Lakers were able to get a win over the Orlando Magic and Howard was able to make a little bit of history in the process. With his four rebounds in the game, he moved into sole possession of tenth place on the NBA's all-time rebounding list, becoming just the 4th true center in the top ten.

Now with 14,468 career rebounds, it is likely that he will pass Kevin Garnett for ninth place at some near the end of this season. That is assuming he can keep up his current average of 5.5 rebounds per game. That mark is the lowest of Howard's career so it is not like it's a hard-to-achieve goal for him to keep up the pace. Limited to just 26 minutes over the past two games as he tied and then took possession of tenth place–previously held by Nate Thurmond.

One thing that Dwight can hang his hat on regardless of if he is breaking records or even getting playing time is that every person on the list ahead of him is in the Hall-of-Fame. Howard will undoubtedly be joining them once his storied NBA career comes to an end, but for now, we can all revel in his milestones as one of the game's greatest centers plays out the twilight of his career.
