LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has a guaranteed spot on the Tokyo Olympics roster if he's interested in returning. According to Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation, James is undecided on whether or not he's going to be playing in the Olympics.

On Thursday, the list of 57 finalists for Team USA were released, with plenty of notable names on the list. Of course, if James would like to represent Team USA in the summer, then no one is going to tell him no to playing in the Olympics.

Throughout his legendary career, James has taken part in three different Olympic games in 2004, 2008, and 2012, in which he helped Team USA win the gold medal twice. He also took part in the 2006 FIBA World Championship and the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship.

While James would love to participate in the Tokyo Olympics, he also understands that he could use the summer to recover from the past two seasons. After a delayed season amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019-2020, the NBA began the 2020-2021 season in December, giving teams only two months to prepare.

James, who is 36 years old and is in his 18th season in the league, needs more time to get his body right in the latter part of his career. Though, it should be noted that James hasn't shown any signs of slowing down as he hopes to lead the Lakers to a second consecutive NBA title this season. Depending on how the season pans out, James will decide on whether or not he takes part in the Tokyo Olympics in July.
