With Charlotte Hornets rookie point guard LaMelo Ball officially a member of the NBA fraternity after coming off the board at No. 3 overall last month, it appears as though his father, LaVar Ball, is back in the news creating headlines as well. With the elder Ball back at it in regards to speaking about just about every topic under the sun, he recently revealed the real reason that his older son, New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball, was traded away by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ball surprisingly did not blame Lakers superstar forward LeBron James, but rather the team's coaching staff. It is also worth noting that the Los Angeles coaching staff has since changed over since his son was traded from Los Angeles to New Orleans.

“LeBron didn't do nothing. It was just the coaching over there,” via Bleacher Report. Coaches didn't know how to play LeBron and Lonzo together. … You saw they brought in one new guy and they won a championship. … It was that simple.

Although Lonzo has seemingly found a home in New Orleans as the up-and-coming floor general continues to sit in quite well with the Pelicans, the Lakers did just win a NBA title without him in the picture. With Ball heading across the country alongside several other players as the Lakers and Pelicans previously executed one of the more memorable trades in recent memory, All-Star big man Anthony Davis notably landed in Los Angeles after initially spending his entire NBA tenure in New Orleans.

With forward Brandon Ingram, big man Zion Williamson, center Steven Adams and a slew of talented guards playing alongside Lonzo in New Orleans, the Pelicans also hired longtime NBA head coach Stan Van Gundy this offseason. Perhaps his move from the Lakers to the Pelicans will work itself out in the end as well.
