LaVar Ball was recently asked who he feels the best player in the NBA is right now. Instead of picking his son, Lonzo Ball, he was refreshingly honest and provided a sincere response, stating that he believes that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is currently the best in the business.

“The best playing in the NBA right now? Come on, man. I'm biased. The best in the game right now is LeBron James,” claimed Ball, per Timothy Rapp of Bleacher Report. “LeBron James is the best on the fact he's stronger than everybody.”

Ball's argument stems from James' sheer strength, and does not exactly take into account LeBron's God-given talent and unmatched basketball IQ. Nonetheless, it is hard to argue against the man — for a change — as he has given an extremely valid point.

Ball went on to further elaborate his point by giving a brief lesson in the history of the sport.

“It's whoever is the biggest and strongest at that time,” he added. “Like Wilt Chamberlain, he was stronger and faster than everybody. Shaquille O'Neal, same thing.”

It is worth noting that the examples he used in his argument were both part of the Lakers at one point in their careers. There's the typically biased LaVar Ball we have grown so accustomed to. Then again, he did offer a clear disclaimer at the start of his statement.

Ball is unquestionably over the moon with the Lakers' acquisition of LeBron James over the summer. Although he may not admit it, he knows that the arrival of LeBron has given his son an opportunity to legitimately contend for a title sooner rather than later — an opportunity that may or may not have come had LeBron decided to take his talents elsewhere.
