When comparing LeBron James with Michael Jordan, it’s easy to say that the latter is the GOAT. Winning six championships on his resumé and backed up by zero Finals losses, it’s pretty clear that MJ is better than King James who only won three NBA championships. But LaVar Ball thinks otherwise.

The outspoken father of Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball says the only way for James to outshine Jordan’s legacy is by winning a title with the Los Angeles Lakers. In an interview with Jeff Goodman of ESPN, LaVar says that James is by no means going to win more championships than Jordan.

“LeBron's coming to L.A. I know he's coming to L.A.,” Ball said. “LeBron is not a fool. What's the only way he can beat Jordan? You can't get more championships. Only one way, to say every team I've gone to I've won a championship. Go to Lakers and win a championship, then you're better than Jordan.

“You can't give my son the best player in the league, and don't expect them not to win. Get rid of everybody. Give him LeBron and Gelo [LiAngelo Ball]. You got a 2 and a 3. And it's a win. It's a wrap. Then all you need are two rebounders — [Julius] Randle and [Larry] Nance Jr.”

But that doesn’t mean he can’t be better than him. LaVar argues that joining the Lakers and winning championships in L.A. will make him “better than Jordan.” LaVar didn’t give any concrete reasons why winning a championship with the Lakers would cement LeBron’s legacy as the GOAT.

But he did say that letting James play together with his sons Lonzo and LiAngelo would surely lead to a title. This is despite LiAngelo not yet playing in the NBA or even getting drafted by the Lakers.

Yes, there were talks about James’ possible trade to the Lakers. In fact, the 13-time NBA All-Star had a series of exchanges with Lonzo Ball on the court earlier this season.

But knowing that the Lakers are 11-27, it seems unlikely that King James would be playing in Staples Center anytime soon.
