Lonzo Ball got traded. LaVar Ball had to say something. Jeanie Buss had to face the music. That's how this works.

The Los Angeles Lakers have completed a blockbuster deal with the New Orleans Pelicans to land superstar forward Anthony Davis. The Lakers, in exchange, dealt Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first round picks.

In the aftermath of the trade, Lonzo Ball’s father LaVar Ball had a special message for Lakers owner Jeanie Buss:

LaVar clearly doesn’t want anything to do with Jeanie Buss right now. He is obviously not pleased at the news of his eldest son moving away from their hometown.

The 51-year old businessman proclaimed that this will be the worst move that the Lakers ever make. He even guaranteed that the Purple and Gold will never win an NBA championship.

LaVar, however, reiterated that Lonzo can play with anybody. The prospect of him playing alongside projected first overall pick Zion Williamson is definitely intriguing. The future in the Big Easy is definitely bright with those two running the show, along with Brandon Ingram, granted that he’s healthy; Josh Hart; and this year’s fourth overall pick, which they also received in the haul for Davis.

In February, Lonzo’s camp said that the 6-foot-6 guard did not want to go to New Orleans. Now that Williamson is also headed there, the Ball family's perception of playing there might change.

This is just the first chip that fell in what should be a crazy 2019 offseason. With the injuries to Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors, the Western Conference is wide open.

The Lakers have definitely made themselves instant contenders, though they are far from finished in making a splash. The Pelicans, on the other hand, are on the rise and could be one of the most fun teams in the league with Ball, Williamson, and Ingram running the show.
