The Los Angeles Lakers were already depleted when they entered the Target Center on Friday night to face the Minnesota Timberwolves. Five players were in COVID-19 health and safety protocols, and Trevor Ariza — while questionable and dressing — remained out with his ankle injury.

Things got worse during the 48 minutes of action.

Anthony Davis — who missed two games earlier this week with left knee soreness and has been listed on the injury report with eight different ailments this season — suffered two injuries over the course of the Lakers' 110-92 loss. (It was the team's second blowout defeat to the Wolves this season.)

In the first half, Davis fell awkwardly on his right ankle. He limped to the locker room before returning a quarter later. Phew.

In the third quarter, Wolves wing Jaden McDaniels inadvertently fell backward on Davis' left knee. The Lakers All-Star writhed in pain and was forced to leave the game. He was spotted struggling to make his way through the tunnel before being ruled out for the night with a knee contusion:

Afterward, Frank Vogel and LeBron James spoke on AD's injury, though they did not have much to offer, besides hope.

“He did see the team doctor here and he’s just going to be evaluated tomorrow (in Chicago) with the MRI, and we’ll know at that time,” Vogel said. “Hopefully, it’s something minor and he can get back soon, but we’ll know more tomorrow.”

LeBron said he briefly spoke to AD after the game.

“We asked him how he’s doing, he said, ‘We’ll find out more tomorrow.' So that’s all we know.”

ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported positive news on Davis' knee shortly after the game concluded:

Obviously, we'll keep you posted on AD news as it comes in on Saturday.
