In case you haven't heard, the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to make a deal for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis before the trade deadline on Thursday.

The Lakers have already engaged the Pelicans in talks, but based on reports, it seems relatively unlikely that Los Angeles will be able to strike a deal before the deadline expires.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, Davis is signed to LeBron James' agency, Klutch Sports, so, naturally, James and his camp want him in Los Angeles. I mean, who wouldn't? The dude is one of the best players in the league.

But James says that while he is following the saga, he is more focused on winning games:

Yeah … don't buy that for a second.

James can try to convince the media otherwise as much as he wants to, but there is no doubt that he is involved in these discussions, and a lot of the leaks that have come out about Davis over the past week were almost definitely coming from LeBron's camp.

Let's face it: the Lakers desperately need another star player.

Right now, Los Angeles hardly resembles a contending team, as it is just a 34-year-old James and a bunch of mostly unproven talent. Add Davis into the mix, and suddenly the Lakers have one of the best one-two punches in the league.

Los Angeles currently owns a record of 27-26 and will take on the Pacers in Indiana on Tuesday night, and LeBron will be in the lineup. The Lakers are currently one loss behind the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
